Segal chosen to lead county commissioners for 2007-08
County Commissioner Kate Segal was elected as the 2007-2008 chairwoman of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners on Thursday.

The commission also elected County Commissioner Terris Todd as vice chairman for the one-year term.

Segal said one of her first priorities as chairwoman of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners will be to call for the first countywide local public policy summit. The goal will be to provide new and more efficient public services to residents.

The countywide summit is based on a program started in Manistee County, with the goal of bringing local governments together to talk about community needs and services. The program is designed to allow the local government units to create priorities based on local residents' priorities.

"Everyone wants Calhoun County to be a vibrant, safe and family friendly community," Segal said in a news release. "I will continue to work to make those goals a reality for all of Calhoun County."

Vice chairman Todd said he is looking forward to serving the county in his new leadership role.

"I am truly honored that my fellow commissioners have chosen me," Todd said in a news release. "I must give God all of the glory because without him, this would not be possible."
