ALBION, Mich. — City, county and state elected officials account for their efforts to combat global warming with a special forum hosted at Albion College on Friday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m. in the College's Norris Center Towsley Hall. This special panel caps Albion College's three-day 'Focus the Nation' climate change awareness project.

The forum, moderated by Albion College students, will address questions about local and state climate change initiatives, including sustainability practices and choice of energy sources. Albion mayor Bill Wheaton, Calhoun County commissioner Kate Segal and Michigan senate minority leader Mark Schauer will all answer questions about policies and legislation enacted through their offices.

"The main goal of this forum is to get a multifaceted look on policies as they affect municipal and individuals," said Albion College student Erica Tauzer, a Focus the Nation co-coordinator and member of the MSSC. "It's important to know about local and state energy policies – you want to make sure they're making a positive impact."

In addition, Albion College vice president for finance Troy Van Aken will discuss the College's initiatives and representatives from Michigan Clean Water Action and Michigan Student Sustainability Coalition (MSSC) will present information.

The discussion will be interactive, with audience members invited to submit written questions during the forum. A reception will be held after the forum, during which individuals may ask other questions.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Erica Tauzer at 906/399-7501 or ect10@albion.edu.
